Neousys Half-rack IP67 Waterproof Capable Computer with SuperCap UPS to Prevent Data Loss

Neousys Technology, an industry-leading provider of rugged embedded systems, releases new supercapacitor UPS variants to its SEMIL extreme rugged computer family. With a built-in patented SuperCAP UPS, these new SEMIL family members can effectively prevent data loss, offer greater reliability and longevity over traditional battery UPS. The SEMIL-1700 (IP67 rated) and SEMIL-1300 series are feature-rich standard 2U 19” half-rack fanless computers powered by an Intel® C246 workstation-grade platform to support a Xeon® E or 9th/ 8th-Gen Core™ processor. In addition, they come with a patented passive thermal design that allows for -40 °C to 70 °C fanless operations.

The inclusion of a SuperCap UPS (ROC Patent No. I598820) ensures the SEMIL system continues to operate in the event of a power outage. The SuperCap UPS is rated with a 10-year lifespan or 500,000 charge-discharge cycles. It also features a Neousys patented technology that constantly monitors the system’s power consumption, so when a power outage occurs, it will sustain the SEMIL until successfully shut down to protect data and the system hardware.

The design of the SEMIL-1700 and SEMIL-1300 series are intended to meet deployment environment needs with a true fanless design and are capable of operating between -40°C and 70°C ambient temperatures. They are available in standard 2U half-rack specifications with uniquely designed brackets that allow them to be easily mounted into standard 19″ cabinets. SEMIL-1700 and SEMIL-1300 series are also MIL-STD-810G certified for durability, rolling stock EN 50155 certified and can withstand up to 5 Grms vibrations and shock up to 50G for transportation use.

With SEMIL-1700 offering all M12 connectors and SEMIL-1300 a mixture of M12 and generic IOs with screw-lock mechanisms, both systems have VGA, USB, COM and PoE+ to supply 25W of power to connected devices such as IP or GigE cameras. The robust M12 connectors are cost-effective, reliable and available off-the-shelf while generic I/Os with screw-lock mechanisms offer extra-rugged connectivity. SEMIL connector connections are designed for extreme-rugged conditions to offer extended durability and reliability under harsh volatile conditions in military defense applications while maintaining COTS availability. In addition, SEMIL-1300 series also features M.2 slots designed for 5G/4G and WiFi6/WiFi5 wireless connectivity expansion, ideal for modern edge applications.

Available with various IP rating configurations and budgets, the SEMIL series also comes with optional SuperCap UPS and comprises of the following models:

  • SEMIL-1700, IP67 waterproof fanless computer supporting Intel® Xeon® E or 9th/ 8th-Gen Core™ CPU with all M12 connectors
  • SEMIL-1300, wide-temperature fanless computer supporting Intel® Xeon® E or 9th/ 8th-Gen Core™ CPU with M12 connectors
