ESG and Serco Emphasise Ability to Complete Systems Integration for the German Air Force

The Federal Office of Defense Technology and Procurement (BWB) has awarded the GSS+ consortium, consisting of ESG Elektroniksystem- und Logistik-GmbH and Serco GmbH, a contract for the implementation of the Ground Support Container System project for the Eurofighter weapon system. In the scope of the programme, ESG and Serco have entered into a partnership with Drehtainer.

The Ground Support System (GSS) serves as a planning and control system for the operation and maintenance of the Eurofighter aircraft. In combination with the Luftwaffe’s mobile command post – a core element of the Luftwaffe’s mobile command and control system (MobFüSysLw) – the container system provides a mobile basis for the operation of the Eurofighter aircraft from a deployed operation base and ensures the ground support functionalities required by a mission-wing in any climatic zone.

At three different priority levels, the system comprises networks for mission support. It has a standardised system architecture and offers the option of multifunctional use of the workstations, thus providing the same maximum level of flexibility that has already been proven with systems like MobFüSysLw.

The container system will be delivered to the Bundeswehr by the end of 2013.
