Data Acquisition Software and Analysis Tools

In modern test and measurement systems, powerful hardware must be complemented with intuitive, robust software — and that’s exactly what Bustec delivers with its suite of data acquisition software tools. Designed for configuration, control, acquisition, visualisation, and analysis, Bustec software transforms raw instrument data into actionable insights for engineers in aerospace, defence, energy, automotive, and research environments.

At its core, Bustec’s software ecosystem is engineered to support deterministic operation across large-scale and high-density test systems. Whether controlling LXI instruments over a distributed Ethernet network, integrating PXIe measurement modules into automated test sequences, or coordinating mixed architectures, the software is built to handle complex, real-world requirements. It provides flexible system configuration, real-time health monitoring, continuous data logging, and visualisation — all within an open and interoperable framework.

Beyond basic control and data streaming, Bustec’s software, as well as the instruments themselves, include advanced features for synchronisation, data integrity, and long-term operation. As highlighted in Bustec webinars like “Mastering Aerospace Data: Unleash the Power of ProDAQ Software,” engineers can configure multi-device acquisition systems for redundancy and efficiency, observe live data visualisation, and exploit advanced synchronisation technologies such as IEEE-1588 Precision Time Protocol (PTP) to achieve nanosecond-level alignment between instruments. This makes Bustec’s software and instrumentation suitable for demanding aerospace and defence test ranges where timing precision and data consistency are mission-critical.

In addition to real-time monitoring, the software supports structured workflows for long-duration tests. Automated data logging ensures that high-channel count datasets are timestamped, archived, and accessible for offline analysis, while custom scripting and integration with third-party tools empower engineers to tailor analyses to their specific needs. Whether you are conducting structural fatigue tests, propulsion system evaluation, environmental chamber cycles, or multi-parameter qualification runs, the software facilitates insight and automation at scale.

Bustec’s instruments provide user-friendly interfaces via drivers and, for LXI instruments, also support SCPI commands and raw TCP/IP or UDP data streams. The drivers expose both C and C++ APIs and can therefore be integrated with industry-standard C/C++, LabVIEW®, MATLAB®, .NET, and Python environments. SCPI communication, which is used for instrument configuration, also enables driverless operation via a standard VISA library, including Bustec’s ProDAQ 8200 VISA Library and Tools. The simplicity of the interfaces, especially with respect to critical data streaming, significantly facilitates integration into real-time systems. This broad range of interface options allows you to tailor the integration approach to your team’s workflows.
