TADEAS
Modern wheeled infantry fighting vehicle
The TADEAS armoured vehicle (Tatra Defence Armoured Solution) was designed and developed in the Czech Republic by TATRA DEFENCE VEHICLE (TD) in collaboration with the Tatra Trucks automotive company. The project addresses the need for a highly durable yet versatile armoured vehicle, with the ability to complete a wide range of combat and non-combat missions in the military and security sectors.
Construction and mobility
The TADEAS vehicle features a main load-bearing tube and independently suspended, air-sprung half-axles. Its design is based on the reliable Tatra 6×6 chassis. It also presents steerable first and third axles for top manoeuvrability and off-road capabilities. The solution’s central tyre inflation and adjustable ground clearance facilitate the vehicle’s prompt adaptation to different battlefield conditions.
Its approach and departure angles are above average and can normally ford water of up to 1,200mm of depth.
Protection
TADEAS’s ballistic protection (Level 4) and mine protection (Level 4a/4b) are compliant with NATO standards. Further protection is offered against chemical, biological, and nuclear weapons. The vehicle provides a comfortable and spacious interior, along with an ergonomic design and ample integration capabilities when it comes to different electronic communication and weapon systems.
Mobility and performance
The TADEAS vehicle can accommodate several power units. Air-cooled Tatra V8 engines deliver power from 300kW to 365kW. The liquid-cooled Caterpillar inline-six engine can supply power from 395kW to 447kW. Both engines can be connected with automatic, automated, or manual transmissions. This flexibility allows for customised solutions that meet different needs.
Versatility and modularity
TADEAS is a universal armoured platform that can easily be deployed for various missions. Its flexibility allows it to turn into a command, communications, engineering, or reconnaissance vehicle, as well as a self-propelled mortar, emergency, or recovery vehicle for rescue expeditions. The vehicle’s design enables smooth transport by rail and in most medium- and heavy-class transport aircraft for strategic mobility.
