The 689nm discrete mode laser diode from the FEBP series is a cost-effective, highly coherent laser source with a typical linewidth of 4MHz. A strained multi-quantum well discrete mode (DM) laser diode chip is packaged in an industry-standard hermetically sealed TO39 can with an integrated thermo-electric cooler (TEC) and thermistor.

The typical optical output power is 2.5mW. A butterfly version with about 1.5mW out of an
SM or PM fibre is in development and will be available soon. This laser diode is excellently suited for high-performance gas sensing and use in Sr-based atomic clocks.
