Oshkosh Defense LLC, a provider of tactical wheeled vehicles and a subsidiary of Oshkosh Corporation, has been awarded a $57m order from the US Army Contracting Command to manufacture 116 enhanced heavy equipment transporter system (EHETS) trailers, improving battlefield logistics.

These trailers are specifically designed to be towed by the Oshkosh heavy equipment transport (HET), granting the ability to transport the heaviest tracked vehicles across European roadways.

The ongoing conflict in Ukraine further underscores the EHETS trailer’s order, which has demonstrated the necessity of logistics systems capable of delivering equipment and cargo across the terrain.

Pat Williams, the chief programs officer at Oshkosh Defense, emphasised the importance of the EHETS trailer in addressing the demands of modern warfare, stating, “The EHETS trailer is a prime example of Oshkosh’s commitment to providing solutions that meet the demands of an evolving battlefield.

Oshkosh and our partner Broshuis B.V. are honoured to continue to provide this critical capability for the Soldier.”

With this new order, Oshkosh Defense aims to enhance military transport capabilities and support troops with equipment. As the geopolitical landscape remains, complex and ever-changing, investments in technologies like the EHETS trailer are important in safeguarding military readiness and facilitating equipment and machinery movement.

The EHETS trailer’s ability to transport heavy tracked vehicles across European roadways will bolster the US military’s mobility, contributing to the nation’s defence and strengthening alliances with its international partners.

This year, Oshkosh has secured deals and provided capabilities for the US Army. In January, Oshkosh secured a new contract to deliver 414 Family of Medium Tactical Vehicles (FMTV) A2 and 56 FMTV trailers to the US Army. Oshkosh Defense delivered Joint Light Tactical Vehicles to the US Army a month later.

Oshkosh announced a fiscal 2023 first-quarter net income of $88.5 million, compared to a loss of $0.2 million for the first quarter of fiscal 2022.
