The Ohio National Guard has been called to support residents and staff at the Carlin House assisted living facility in Logan, Ohio. A team of 20 Guard airmen and soldiers with medical and ancillary staff capabilities were activated and tasked with helping at the facility for two weeks. The team was deployed after more than half of their staff and residents tested positive for Covid-19. Around 65% of the residents and 37% of the staff had contracted the virus. The Guard medics and nurses several tasks including dispensing medications, evaluating conditions, taking vital signs and transferring residents across the facility.

The US Air Force Materiel Command (AFMC) is hosting a Digital Campaign Virtual Industry Exchange Day on 30 July. The campaign seeks to modernise and streamline lifecycle process of Air Force platforms and systems. By leveraging modern digital capabilities, the effort aims to reduce the time taken to move new weapon systems and technologies from concept into the warfighter’s hands. The event will brief academia and industry on the overall Digital Campaign Strategy and collect input and feedback from them on the newly-launched priority effort.
The US Navy’s Norfolk Naval Shipyard (NNSY) has found a new cleaning solution to fight Covid-19. The common household disinfectant, a three percent hydrogen peroxide spray, is affordable, easy to procure, and non-hazardous. It has the capability to kill Covid-19 surface contamination without posing health and safety risks. Prior to this newest solution, the shipyard used Strike-1-N cleaning solution and alcohol dampened cloths.
