Thales has inaugurated Connectivity Lab, a dedicated facility to provide advanced critical communications technology for the Danish Army and partner nations.
The facility was opened in Ballerup, Denmark, on 18 September, in partnership with the Danish Defence Acquisition and Logistics Organisation (DALO) and the Danish Armed Forces.

Thales Denmark Connectivity Lab is designed to work closely with defence stakeholders to develop and test critical communications products and services. The facility aims to shorten the time it takes to move from experimental stages to operational deployment, ensuring solutions are delivered in alignment with the Danish Army’s requirements and conditions.
In a statement released on 21 September, Thales stated that the lab will support the integration of systems chosen by the Danish Armed Forces, including both current and older equipment, to ensure different technologies function together effectively on the battlefield.
This process is intended to strengthen local technical skills and facilitate the transfer of expertise to Denmark’s defence industry, while enabling Thales to adapt solutions in response to user input and operational needs.
In addition to its core focus, the facility is expected to create potential opportunities for applications beyond the military sector and for exports to allied nations, reinforcing efforts to bolster Denmark’s defence industry.
The inauguration event saw attendance from several Danish and French defence representatives, including Marcus Knuth of the Danish Defence Committee, the Danish National Armaments Director, management from DALO’s Land Division, French Ambassador David Bertolotti, and French Defence Attaché Thomas Secher.
Thales was represented by executive leadership from its Secure Communications and Information Systems division and the Danish office.
Thales, present in Denmark since 1973, currently employs about 100 people in Denmark and provides solutions in defence, civil aviation, and digital security.
Last month, Thales established a strategic partnership with Systematic aimed at delivering advanced, interoperable air defence solutions to the Danish Armed Forces.
With the new Connectivity Lab, the group aims to consolidate its role as a local partner to Danish defence while expanding its capacity to adapt solutions to operational conditions.
