The Slovenian Armed Forces has placed a new order for the delivery of Saab’s latest Carl-Gustaf M4 multi-role weapon system.

As a new addition to the group of Saab’s Carl-Gustaf system customers, Slovenia is currently the ninth customer for the M4 variant of the weapon system since its launch in late 2014.

Deliveries of the man-portable, shoulder-launched weapon to the Slovenian Armed Forces will be carried out between this year and 2020.

Saab Dynamics business area head Görgen Johansson said: “The Slovenian order is further proof that Carl-Gustaf M4 is the number one multi-role weapon on the market.

“We are happy to introduce the Slovenian Armed Forces to Saab’s Carl-Gustaf M4 with outperforming capabilities and high tactical flexibility, and we feel confident that the end user will be satisfied.”

“Carl-Gustaf M4 is compatible with future battlefield technology developments such as intelligent sighting systems and programmable ammunition.”

The M4 variant provides users with a wide range of engagement options and enables the troops to remain prepared and effective in any battlespace scenario.

Built on the Carl-Gustaf’s existing capabilities, this newest model offers an enhanced level of accuracy, lighter construction and compatibility with future developments.

Weighing less than 7kg, Carl-Gustaf M4 is equipped with a round counter, improved safety and intelligent features, and is compatible with future battlefield technology developments such as intelligent sighting systems and programmable ammunition.

The weapon system is fully backward compatible with all types of ammunition.

In May, the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration (FMV) placed an order for the delivery of the Carl-Gustaf M4 weapon system for use by the Swedish Armed Forces.
