Oracle has unveiled a new global programme aimed at transforming the provision of technology solutions in the defence and government sectors.

Named the Oracle Defense Ecosystem, this initiative seeks to bolster the security of the US and its allies by fostering the growth of emerging defence technologies.

It aims to do this by offering defence innovators access to advanced cloud services and AI capabilities.

The programme has already attracted several inaugural participants, including Arqit, Blackshark.ai, Entanglement, Fenix Group, Koniku, Kraken, Mattermost, Metron, SensusQ, and Whitespace.

Oracle vice president Rand Waldron said: “Nothing is more important than the national security of the US and its allies, and Oracle has been a cornerstone of this mission for nearly 50 years. Oracle and our defence ecosystem plans to innovate and scale to help the US and its allies deter conflicts and win on physical and digital battlefields.”

The Oracle Defense Ecosystem will use Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) to tackle the common challenges that impede US and allied forces from harnessing the most recent cloud and AI technologies.

These challenges often stem from intricate procurement processes, stringent qualification requirements, and the necessity for well-established network connections to penetrate the Defense Industrial Base (DIB), explained the company.

Separately, Oracle unveiled a new service ‘Oracle Compute Cloud@Customer Isolated’, aimed at delivering enhanced security for sensitive data management.

This service allows for operations to be conducted without internet connectivity, catering specifically to the needs of government entities, defence and intelligence agencies and other sectors.

Oracle said that this service is in response to the heightened need for stringent security measures and compliance with regulatory standards, ensuring that risks associated with cyber threats are mitigated while also supporting national security imperatives.

Oracle edge cloud product management vice president Matt Leonard said: “Protecting national security has always been a top priority for Oracle.

“Oracle Compute Cloud@Customer Isolated is designed to help regulated industries benefit from the cloud and AI, while also providing the flexibility to deploy anywhere.”
