The US Army and Raytheon have completed the first flight test of the new Patriot Guidance-Enhanced Missile, Tactical (GEM-T), at White Sands Missile Range, New Mexico, US.
The flight test of the new ground-up production missile demonstrates the capability of the Patriot to serve 12 partner nations and future customers beyond 2040.
The modernisation of the missile took less than 32 months and was jointly undertaken by Raytheon along with the US Army Lower Tier Project Office.
Patriot is a combat-proven air and missile defence system that provides protection against threats including aircraft, tactical ballistic missiles, cruise missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles.
Raytheon IDS is the prime contractor for both domestic and international Patriot air and missile defence systems and the system integrator for Patriot advanced capability-3 missiles.
