The Government of Iraq has placed orders with Harris for the supply of its Falcon II and Falcon III family of tactical communication solutions to its security forces for conducting a range of security missions.
Under the $51m contract, the company will provide Falcon III RF-7800S wideband secure personal radios (SRP), Falcon II RF-5800M-HH multiband handheld radios and RF-5800H high-frequency manpack radios, along with accessories and training services.
Harris RF Communications International Business president Brendan O'Connell said, "The Falcon family of Harris radios will provide Iraqi security forces with field-proven, secure communications for a broad range of challenging missions."
Weighing less than 600g, the RF-7800S body-worn SRPs offer soldiers secure and reliable voice and wideband data communications in theatre and is optimised for maximum performance across highly variable environments.
The radios feature a duplex voice capability that allows several soldiers to talk simultaneously, advanced waveform with the 350MHz to 450MHz frequency band and a range of more than 2km even in dense urban areas.
The radio offers high-speed USB connectivity to other C4 devices, integrated Global Positioning System (GPS) and simultaneous wideband voice and data.
The RF-5800M is an advanced, multi-band, multi-mission handheld radio that provides voice and data in the frequency range of 30 MHz to 512 MHz for missions ranging from standard squad operations to specialised forward air control and special forces.
The radio offers a full suite of ECCM capabilities, including the TALON waveform for secure ground-to-air communications, while the external data interface enables connection to fielded PCs or other network data devices and integrated GPS provides simultaneous automated position reporting.
The RF-5800H is a long-range, high-frequency (HF) manpack radio designed to provide secure, reliable beyond-line-of-site terrestrial communications.
