The US Army Tank Automotive Command (TACOM) Life Cycle Management Command has awarded a modification contract to General Dynamics (GD) for the supply of M2 heavy barrel (M2HB) machine guns.
Under the new follow-on indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity contract, the company will deliver 600 guns for the army.
The .50 calibre M2 can be mounted on an army vehicle or an aircraft to engage enemy infantry, unarmoured or lightly armoured vehicles and boats, light fortifications and low-flying aircraft.
Work will be carried out at the company’s facility in Saco, Maine, US, and is scheduled to be completed in the spring of 2012.
Programme management will be performed at the company’s Williston Technology Center in Vermont, US.
