The US Army has awarded a firm fixed price contract to General Dynamics for producing the 2.75in Hydra-70 rocket system, warheads and motors.

The Hydra-70 rocket system consists of 2.75in rockets with a variety of unitary, cargo, illumination and obscurant warheads for multiple mission applications.

The $278m base-year contract with three additional one-year options, will support the requirements of the US Army, Air Force, Navy and foreign military for the fiscal year 2010.

Work will be carried out at the company’s facilities in the US with deliveries scheduled to run until October 2012.
