The US Army has awarded a contract to Textron Systems Corporation to supply M1200 Armoured Knight military vehicles.

Under the $10m contract Textron will supply 27 M1200 Armoured Knights, which will be used by the army's field artillery combat observation lasing teams (COLTs) in heavy and infantry brigade combat teams.

The M1200 Armoured Knight combines the battle-proven Armoured Security Vehicle with the M707 Knight Mission Equipment Package (MEP) and will provide improved survivability with increased armour protection, payload and agility.

Work will be carried out in Slidell, Louisiana, and is expected to be complete by 31 December 2010.

The contract has been awarded by the US Army Contracting Command.
