The US Army has awarded a contract to Fort Wayne-based All Rite Distributing Corporation to supply 2,000 machine gun mounts.

Under the $14m contract the company will supply machine gun mounts along with the ammunition boxes which will be mounted on the roof of Humvee M998 combat vehicles used by the army’s special operations forces.

The M998 is the baseline vehicle for the M998 series of 1.25t trucks known as high-mobility multipurpose wheeled vehicle (HMMWV) vehicles.

The HMMWV provides a variety of wheeled vehicle platforms, including the troop carrier, armament carrier, TOW missile system carrier, shelter carrier and two ambulance variants.

Work will be carried out by All Rite in cooperation with Advanced Precision Manufacturing, Chicago.

Deliveries will begin in November 2010 with 500 cradles supplied for four consecutive months.
