Boeing has set up a UK subsidiary to oversee operations in the country as it expands operations in the UK military market.

The subsidiary, to be known as Boeing Defence UK, will be overseen by Mike Kurth, current vice president of business development at Boeing Integrated Defence Systems Advanced Systems, and will become effective on 1 January.

Previously opportunities in the UK were pursued by the relevant departments of the US aerospace and defence company.

All defence activities and business development will now be handled by the UK operation.

Boeing currently has 150 staff in Britain.
