US Army Awards Armoured Vehicles Contract to Textron

Textron Marine & Land Systems has been awarded a contract by the US Army Tank-automotive and Armaments Command (TACOM) for 88 M1117 armoured security vehicles (ASV) and M1200 armoured knight vehicles.

The $64.3m firm-fixed-price award exercises options for 37 M1117 ASVs, 51 M1200 Armoured Knights and associated support equipment.

The ASV is a 4×4 wheeled armoured vehicle that offers protection against small arms fire, artillery projectile fragments, improvised explosive devices (IEDs) and land mines.

The vehicles are capable of performing scout, infantry personnel carrier, reconnaissance, command and control and maintenance missions.

Work will be carried out at the company's facilities in New Orleans, US, and will be completed by the end of 2012.
