The US Missile Defense Agency has awarded a fixed-price incentive and cost-plus-fixed-fee modification contract to Lockheed for the terminal high-altitude area defence (THAAD) missile programme.

The modification contract has a total value of $694.9m and a performance period to December 2013.

As per the contract, the company will manufacture and deliver 48 interceptors and the ground support equipment required to support batteries three and four for the THAAD programme.

Work will be performed at the company’s facility in Sunnyvale, California, US, with final assembly to be carried out in Troy, Alabama, US.
