Elbit Systems UK (ESUK) has provided its Recce Strike Training System (RSTS) to support one of the British Army’s largest live virtual constructive training exercises, carried out with 16 Air Assault Brigade Combat Team.
The exercise, named Pegasus Athena, brought together over 300 British Army personnel and for the first time integrated ESUK’s in-service training systems, the Joint Fires Synthetic Trainer (JFST), Deployable Virtual Constructive Simulator (DVCS), and Interim Indirect Fires Simulation (IIDFS) into a unified training event.

The three-day operation combined live, virtual, and constructive elements and covered a wide range of operational scenarios including dismounted close combat, logistics support, and artillery strikes.
The RSTS suite allowed soldiers to locate targets using JFST, call in simulated fire missions through IIDFS, and observe outcomes in real time across the systems, while the DVCS layer enabled the recording of virtual and live events and provided simulation for drone operations.
According to Elbit Systems UK, this data collection supported performance assessment throughout the training.
Throughout the week, troops engaged in realistic battlefield activities ranging from ammunition resupply and vehicle manoeuvres to the use of air assets such as Chinook helicopters for repositioning light artillery.
ESUK stated that the partnership approach enabled the company to tailor each training system to suit operational requirements.
The collaboration was described as the first live demonstration of the fully integrated Recce Strike Training Solution within the British Army, with aims to improve training effectiveness and reduce costs.
The system allows high-fidelity exercises without relying on external assets or depleting ammunition stocks.
