The aerospace, defence & security industry’s overall hiring activity increased 0.7% when compared with September 2021.
Noticeably, IT jobs accounted for a 23.75% share of the global aerospace, defence & security industry’s hiring activity in October 2021, up 0.25% over the last three-month average share.
According to GlobalData, IT job opportunities available at the end of October 2021 were 6.28% lower when compared with the previous month.
The decrease was a result of 14.44% higher job postings as compared to job closures during the month.
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers drive aerospace, defence & security IT hiring activity
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers with a share of 54.94% emerged as the top IT occupation in the aerospace, defence & security hiring activity in October 2021, a 15.27% decline over the previous month. Computer and Information Research Scientists came in second with a share of 17.92% in October 2021, down 32.39% over the previous month.
The other prominent IT roles include Database and Network Administrators and Architects with a 14.68% share in October 2021, a decline of 32.01% over the previous month, and Computer and Information Analysts with a 6.28% share in October 2021 and a drop of 28.29% over September 2021.
Top five aerospace, defence & security companies by recruitment activity in October 2021
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average decline of 12.52% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of global aerospace, defence & security industry during October 2021 over September 2021.
The Boeing posted 1,908 IT jobs in October 2021 and registered a drop of 36.61% over the previous month, followed by Raytheon Technologies with 1,805 jobs and a 23.58% decline. Leidos Holdings with 840 IT jobs and Lockheed Martin with 826 jobs, recorded an 89.19% growth and an 119.1% rise, respectively, while L3Harris Technologies recorded a 3.35% drop with 404 job postings during October 2021.
Regional composition of IT hiring in aerospace, defence & security industry
North America emerged as the leading region in the global aerospace, defence & security IT hiring activity in October 2021 with a 79.76% share, which marked a 24.69% drop over the previous month.
Europe stood next with 10.14%, registering a 6.31% month-on-month decline. Asia-Pacific was the third leading region with a 9.44% share and a 28.06% drop over September 2021.
In the fourth place was Middle East & Africa with a share of 0.51% and a month-on-month rise of 35.71%. South & Central America stood at the bottom of the table with a share of 0.15%, registering a 37.5% increase over the previous month.
