Europe witnessed a 6.4% drop in IT hiring activity in the apparel industry in October 2021 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics dashboard.

October 2021 has seen a decrease of 3.6% in the overall hiring activity when compared with September 2021.

IT jobs accounted for a 5.42% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in October 2021, registering a decrease of 0.33% over the last three-month average share.

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in October 2021

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in Europe with a share of 69.59% in October 2021, a 38.2% drop over the previous month. Miscellaneous Computer Occupations came in next, claiming a share of 12.05% in October 2021, marking a 29.6% month-on-month decline. In the third place was Database and Network Administrators and Architects with a share of 11.78% in October 2021, a 3.61% rise from September 2021.

Computer Support Specialists registered a share of 3.56% in October 2021, a 3.7% decline over the previous month.

Top five apparel companies in Europe’s IT recruitment activity in October 2021

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average decline of 36.89% in the overall IT recruitment activity of Europe’s apparel industry during October 2021 over previous month.

Amazon posted 294 IT jobs in October 2021 and registered a decline of 46.93% over the previous month, followed by Zalando with 70 jobs and a 25.53% drop. H & M Hennes & Mauritz with 59 IT jobs and adidas with 43 jobs, recorded a 20.41% rise and a 25.86% drop, respectively, while ASOS recorded an 8.7% increase with 25 job postings during October 2021.

Country-wise composition of IT hiring in Europe’s apparel industry

The UK commanded a leading presence in the region’s apparel industry IT hiring activity with a 29.45% share in October 2021, a 31.75% decrease over September 2021. Germany featured next with a 20.27% share, down 35.37% over the previous month. Sweden recorded a 9.32% share, a growth of 11.48% compared with September 2021.

Junior Level job postings dominate in October 2021

Junior Level jobs held a share of 65.62%, down by 31.67% from September 2021. Mid Level positions with a 19.45% share, registered a decline of 40.08% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 14.11% share, down 30.41% over September 2021, while Senior postings accounted for 0.82%, recording a month-on-month growth of 100%.
