Architecture and Engineering Occupations drive aerospace, defence and security industry hiring activity

Architecture and Engineering Occupations, with a share of 19% new job postings, was the occupation with the greatest hiring activity in the North American aerospace, defence and security industry in Q4 2023 , ahead of Computer and Mathematical Occupations with an 18% share of new job postings.

The other prominent roles included Management Occupations with a 9% share in Q4 2023, Business and Financial Operations Occupations with a 7% share and Production Occupations with a 6% share of new job postings.

Top five companies accounted for 50% of hiring activity

RTX posted 6,241 jobs in Q4 2023 and registered a growth of 0.55% over the previous quarter, followed by Northrop Grumman with 4,404 jobs and a 13% drop. Leidos, with 4,169 jobs, and Lockheed Martin, with 3,593 jobs, recorded 0.5% drop and a 39% drop, respectively, while L3Harris Technologies recorded a 11% increase with a 3,382 new job postings during Q4 2023.

The US held the leading share of the North American aerospace, defence and security hiring activity with a 95.72% share, a 12% decrease over Q3 2023. Canada was next with 3.88%, four-percentage-point down over the previous quarter.
