The United States Marine Corps has approved German-based swordsmiths Weyersberg, Kirschbaum & Co. (WKC) as the official supplier of ceremonial dress swords for commissioned and non-commissioned marine officers.

The hand-forged 30 inch blades of the dress swords are acid-etched with the US Marine Corp pattern, and have a hardness of ca. 48-52° HRC Rockwell, combining intricate craftsmanship with rugged durability. Both the US Marine Officer and NCO sabers have a cast brass, 24 carat gold plated hand guard with a hand-polished finish.

The Officer’s saber features an ivory-coloured grip with ‘star’ screws, and a stainless steel tube scabbard with 24 carat gold-plated brass mountings.

The NCO’s saber features a real leather finish grip, and a mild steel scabbard with a leather cover and 24 carat gold-plated brass mountings.

Based in Solingen, Germany, WKC is the oldest operational sword manufacturer in the world, with a history of creating and supplying military swords which dates back to 1883. Currently, they supply ceremonial dress swords and accessories to the US, British, Belgian, French, German, Austrian and Irish armed forces.
