FAUN Trackway USA, manufacturer of portable roadways and runways, is heading to the Army Engineer Association’s (AEA) Industry Vendor Exhibit at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, for the seventh time later this month.

As part of the company’s ongoing commitment to the US Army, FAUN will be at the major American defence show between 20 – 23 April to discuss how its products can be used to facilitate both military and disaster relief scenarios. Particular focus will be given to the company’s heavy ground mobility system (HGMS).

FAUN will have two booths at the event, with one located in the outdoor area where its HGMS demonstration unit ‘Rhiannon’ will be displayed along with 30m of Trackway.

HGMS is mounted on to a hydraulic spool, comprising of military load classification (MLC) 70 aluminium Trackway. It requires only minimal manpower for deployment, as the system is fitted to the chassis of a military vehicle and powered by its engine. It is designed for speed; a full length of 50m Trackway can be laid by two men in only six minutes.

Trackway can support wheeled or tracked vehicles weighing up to 70t as ground-surfacing aluminium matting. It is a temporary solution designed to aid military and disaster-relief route clearance missions that take place in challenging terrains such as sand, snow, desert and marshland. As well as temporary roadways, Trackway and HGMS can also used to support bridging operations as an outlet to stop erosion of river banks due to repeated traffic.

It was developed for the Norwegian Army 15 years ago, however today more than 35 armed forces from across the world hold the HGMS in their inventories.

The AEA exhibition is an annual event and attendees will include the senior US Army Engineer School and faculty, as well as decision-makers from around Fort Leonard Wood.

FAUN Trackway USA vice-president Mike Holdcraft said: "Modern armed forces are required to work in a wide variety of environments, under challenging conditions. It’s vital that vehicle assets and soldiers can remain mobile and protected.

"We’re looking forward to being back in Missouri to update the US Army on our latest product developments and engage with the delegates in attendance to demonstrate exactly what our products are capable of."

FAUN Trackway USA will be positioned as part of the Defence Product Marketing (DPM) pavilion at indoor booth numbers 17, 18 and 29 and outdoor booth 110.
