HESCO Bastion was recently a proud sponsor of the Shaibah Log Base Half Marathon, organised by Sgt Major Simon Crossman of 15 Fd Sp Sqn 32 Engineer Regt Group on 1st January 2006.

The perimeter of the Log Base, and its mixture of tarmac and cross country desert terrain, provided a suitable challenge for almost 800 international competitors from Britain, Denmark, South Africa, Fiji, Trinidad & Tobago and Zimbabwe.

The winner was LCpl Mundle, from 2 Logistic Support Regiment with a time of 1hr 19 minutes. The first female was Sgt Dolan from 7 Armoured Brigade Signal Squadron in a time of 1hr 37 minutes.
The event did raised over £5000, to be divided between the Children’s Cancer Fund, the Army Benevolent Fund, and the Royal Engineer Benevolent Fund.

When asked why he chose HESCO Bastion as the main sponsor for the event, Sgt Major Crossman said, ‘HESCO Bastion was chosen to be the main sponsor of the event because of the close relationship the Royal Engineers has with HESCO. The Sappers have been involved with HESCO since the Balkans and will no doubt continue on future operations.’
