Whatever the requirement - from standard to extended runflats, with or without Tyre Pressure Monitoring, we supply the most advanced systems and can offer local support throughout the world. Unique Safety Bands for Ambush get awayTyron safety bands where original developed and used by the Royal Ordnance Constabulary (RUC) back in the late 1970’s. In 2002 Tyron re-designed and patented a new Tyron Multiband which is adjustable for height to accommodate the changing designs in wheel wells. The handling performance of the vehicle is improved due to the ‘plug in’ feet which create extra ‘grip’ between the Tyron band and the wheel outperforming all other Safety Band designs. The Multiband is fitted by the MOD, is NATO approved, and now specified by Police and Ambulance services throughout the world to help give control and short runflat capability in the case of tyre failure. All-terrain extended runflat (ATR) systemThe Tyron ATR is the world’s first bulletproof two and three-piece steel reinforced rubber runflat system for all-terrain vehicles. Its unique, flexible characteristics has been independently tested and shown to outperform the alternatives in both distance and durability. Each extended runflat system is designed with unique elements dependant on the application and performance requirements of the customer. Heavy duty alloy wheels with ATR for armoured vehiclesThe Tyron R4 is a heavy-duty wheel for armoured cars, 4x4s and cash-in-transit vehicles. The super-strong alloy wheel, with a load rating of 1,600Kgs, incorporates an ingenious beadlock design. Inside our new R4 wheel sits the world’s only multipiece rubber with steel re-inforcement runflat. Other runflat systems can only run with one flat tyre per axel on single piece wheels. The Tyron R4 invention can outperform them all even with ALL the tyres flat and it can be supplied from stock. Ballistic testing for ATR systemTyron's ATRs have been extensively tested in accordance to Finabel standards. Five shots were fired into the side of the runflat and two into the tread area from 50m with an AK47 using 7.62mm bullets and an M16 using 5.56mm bullets. Special effort was made to hit the fixings with one bullet making a direct hit on the fixing head which ricocheted off and another hitting the washer and was absorbed. The other three simply passed through the rubber system. The two shots into the tread area around the fixings were simply absorbed therefore none of the shooting had any effect on the performance of the runflat system. We carried out the same test at only 25m with the same results. In total we shot the runflat 35 times with no effect.
