US-based Flyer Defense, in a partnership with the UAE-based International Golden Group (IGG), has finished the initial shipment of its Flyer 72 vehicle under a multi-year direct major commercial sales contract with the UAE Armed Forces.

It will begin full-rate production of the configurable vehicles later this year.

Positioned as a replacement for the high mobility, multi-purpose wheeled vehicle, the Flyer vehicle has advanced design capabilities and modularity, and supports field-installable armour.

Claimed to have an adaptable platform and an ‘unmatched’ payload-to-weight ratio, the Flyer 72 vehicle offers improved maneuverability and ride quality.

Flyer Defense founder and CEO Oded Nechushtan said: “We prioritise the user. Our tailorable engineering yields a flexible product, bendable to the will and need of any customer. We are proud to offer our proven solution to the UAE as we simultaneously continue to grow our manufacturing capabilities with strategic partnerships.”

Besides the design, the company is responsible for the sustainment of the fielded USSOCOM Program of Record Ground Mobility Vehicle 1.1 (GMV 1.1) and the ‘directed requirement’ of the Army Ground Mobility Vehicle (A-GMV), with a total of over 1,000 fielded vehicles.

These vehicles are being used by the US Army and Special Forces.

For the manufacturing of the Flyer 72 family of vehicles, the company has partnered with JWF Defense.

Headquartered in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, JWF has almost ten year of experience in manufacturing the body and chassis of Flyer’s fielded vehicles.

Nechushtan further added: “We have spent decades fielding a platform superior in every way that counts. We have the capability, experience and, most importantly, the product to meet the need of any military with a gap in light tactical mobility.”
