Advances in Global Aviation Security

The North American and global aviation community are beginning to prepare for sweeping changes as the US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is implementing enhanced security measures for all commercial flights to the United States.

The DHS has established new guidelines for increased security measures to advance global aviation security. Many airport procurement departments are still trying to determine what these new security measures mean.

The enhanced security measures include but are not limited to:

  • Enhancing overall passenger screening
  • Conducting improved screening of personal electronic devices
  • Increasing security protocols around aircraft and in passenger areas
  • Deploying advanced technology, expanding canine screening, and establishing additional preclearance locations
