USMC LWPS Reverse Osmosis Water Purification System
About the LWPS
The LWPS (Lightweight Water Purification System) is a tactical water treatment and purification system designed by TerraGroup Corporation for the United States Marine Corps and Special Operations Forces. The TECWAR® system is a modular, lightweight and highly mobile water purification system that is All Source Capable™, meaning that it is suitable for producing potable, safe drinking water from a wide range of sources, i.e., ponds, lakes, streams, rivers, oceans, and even water contaminated with nuclear, biological and chemical contamination. It provides absolute water purification for any field condition. It can be transported in a standard military M1097A series HMMWV; UH-60 Blackhawk helicopter; C-130 Air Transport and standard Quadcon. The system’s versatile footprint provides self-contained, potable water support without committing larger water production assets from a support structure.
There is no requirement for external power, (generators or electricity) it is totally self-contained needing only diesel fuel or gasoline, depending on the model. It can be operational in less than 45 minutes, and can be operated and maintained by one person with no special tools and minimal instruction. Basic system weight is less than 1,800 lbs, and no module is over 200 lbs, making it truly man-portable. Its versatile footprint allows 300 ft. “source to storage”, or “tailgate” configurations (and anything in between).
System flow rates range from 180 Gallons Per Hour (GPH) or 3 Gallons Per Minute (GPM) on freshwater sources to 90 Gallons Per Hour (GPH) or 1.5 Gallons Per Minute (GPM) on sea water. It is effective in producing potable water from chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear (CBRN) contaminated sources and is designed to operate in hostile environments. The Lightweight Water Purification System is easy to operate and maintain by both trained and untrained personnel.

The TECWAR® LWPS is the foundation of our lightweight water purification systems. This All Source CapableTM , scalable system produces from 300 maximum GPH to 900+ maximum GPH of potable water from a wide range of sources such as streams, lakes, rivers, and oceans.
The TECWAR® E-LWPS exemplifies power source versatility. Convert the multi-fuel engines to electric motor operation on any of the TECWAR® LWPS configurations. This allows the system to connect directly to the base camp electrical grid or a deployed generator.
The MPRO® 60HDX™ is an expeditionary water purification system that enables small units and platoons to produce up to 60 GPH without the need for chemicals or fuel. In just three simple steps, the system is producing potable water that meets Military Field Water Standards (MFWS) for short-term consumption.
