TSS International BV, a leading provider of vehicle mobility products for armoured vehicles, and MOV’IT GmbH, a renowned designer and manufacturer of high-performance braking systems, are proud to announce the successful completion of rigorous homologation testing for their jointly developed brake system designed for armoured Toyota Land Cruiser 300 vehicles.
The comprehensive road-worthiness testing, conducted according to the stringent ECE R13H standards, validated the system’s exceptional performance under extreme conditions. Specifically, the test was performed on a Toyota Land Cruiser 300 with a Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) just under 6.7 tonnes, representing the demanding requirements of heavily armoured vehicles.
The test protocol includes, but is not limited to, the following procedures:
- Brake booster failure
- Brake circuit failure (i.e. only front or only rear brakes in service)
- ABS activation
- Fading recovery
The results conclusively demonstrate that the MOV’IT brake system is the ideal choice for Land Cruiser 300 conversions armoured up to VPAM level VR9.
The system’s superior performance is attributed to several key features:
- Superior Heat Dissipation: Drilled and ventilated brake discs provide exceptional heat dissipation, preventing brake fade and maintaining consistent performance during prolonged and intense braking.
- Unmatched Fading Resistance: The robust construction of the callipers and greatly increased friction surface deliver unparalleled fading resistance, ensuring consistent and reliable braking performance under extreme stress.
- Integrated Electronic Parking Brake (EPB): A seamless plug-and-play integration ensures reliable parking brake functionality, even during a 20% gradient hill-hold test.
The most recent ECE R13H approval is not the first to confirm the brake system’s performance. A customer-confidential ECE R13H test with a GVW of approximately 6.5t was already successfully conducted in 2023. In January 2025, comparative testing was done in a joint effort between TSS International, one of its long-standing customers and MOV’IT. In this test, the MOV’IT brakes and competing systems were subjected side-by-side to a demanding set of braking actions, which highlighted again MOV’IT’s fading resistance, consistent deceleration & ABS engagement and excellent heat management.
“We are thrilled with the results of this testing,” said Louis Huijzen, managing director of TSS International. “The successful completion of ECE R13H testing confirms that our collaboration with MOV’IT has yielded a braking solution that sets a new benchmark for armoured vehicles. The performance, consistency, reliability and durability of these brakes are unmatched, providing our customers & end-users of the AVs with the highest level of safety and confidence. In addition, the unique plug & play EPB solution ensures ease of installation and use.”
Franziska Mzyk, managing director of MOV’IT GmbH, added: “MOV’IT is proud to partner with TSS International to deliver cutting-edge braking solutions for the armouring industry. Our dedication to innovation and quality is evident in the performance of this system, which we are confident will exceed the expectations of even the most demanding users. Our collaboration extends to the vehicle-builder’s factory floor and the test track, ensuring a custom solution that enhances both vehicle safety and security.”
Specifications of the MOV’IT brake system:
- 4ea drilled and internally ventilated brake discs: 384mmx36mm (also available in size 368mmx36mm for lower weight ratings and compatibility with a wider range of wheel upgrades)
- Cast iron steel callipers (2ea front axle, 2ea rear axle with integrated EPB)
- Steel braided, Teflon-covered reinforced brake lines
- Vastly increased friction surface (52% larger on front axle, 98% larger on rear axle)
TSS International BV is MOV’IT’s official distributor for the Armoured Vehicle (AV) market, which has been a successful collaboration for 11 years. These and other high-performance brake systems are available from stock at TSS International BV.
