Kratos Defense & Security Solutions is set to unveil its latest mixed reality (MR) simulation platform at the ongoing I/ITSEC modelling, simulation and training event in Orlando, Florida, US.

MR goes beyond virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR), and integrates a wide range of advanced technologies for sight, sound, smell and haptics to provide the US Department of Defense with high-fidelity training in a safer and more cost-effective environment.

Kratos’ MR technology offers a platform-based approach to immersive environments that includes commercial market components, requires a smaller footprint and provides training virtually anywhere.

The simulation platform integrates the capability and performance of superior commercial off-the-shelf devices such as VR headsets and stereoscopic cameras.

The MR simulation system is designed to serve as a complete training delivery foundation that enables educators to apply the most immersive MR technology to achieve training objectives.

In addition, the company will demonstrate the Kratos Holodeck delivery environment, which comprises an image generator, host and VR headsets with stereoscopic cameras providing a dynamic viewpoint and head tracking system.

Recently, the company has received $4.7m in contract awards in support of command, control, communication, computing, combat, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance programmes.
