The UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) has published a ‘Future Starts Today’ report that states the need to take important measures to combat against evolving strategic threats.
The sixth edition of Global Strategic Trends report warns the UK of advanced future threats that can cause potential damage to the country’s defence and security.

UK Defence Secretary Gavin Williamson said: “This report makes clear that we are living in a world becoming rapidly more dangerous, with intensifying challenges from state aggressors who flout the rules, terrorists who want to harm our way of life and the technological race with our adversaries.
“Identifying these threats means we can continue to build an armed force that can stay ahead of them.”
Over the past two years, the UK MoD thinktank Development Concepts and Doctrine Centre has worked on the ‘Future Starts Today’ report.
In addition to identifying the danger posed by the four threats, the report outlines how these threats are rapidly increasing and paving way for the creation of ‘new and unparalleled risks’.

The Strategic Defence and Security Review that was launched three years ago highlighted extremist terrorism, state-based threats, technology advancement and the gradual loss of the rules-based international order as four major areas of threat.
