General Technical Services (GTS) has secured a new contract for the delivery of the soldier tactical / expeditionary power and energy generation services to the US Army.

The power and energy generation services will be provided by the company in support of the US Army’s Communications Electronics Research Development and Engineering Center (CERDEC), Command Power and Integration Directorate (CP&ID), Power Division located at Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland and Ft. Belvoir, Virginia.

Valued at $67m, the single-award contract has a base period of one year with four option years and helps support continuing services work in the company’s power and energy market area.

Under the deal, GTS will support the CP&ID, Power Division on a number of different programmes designed to advance new developments related to the generation, storage, management and distribution of tactical and expeditionary power and energy.

The company will provide professional scientific, engineering and analysis services, in addition to prototypes for evaluation in order to support the project.

In a joint statement, GTS co-chief executive officers Mari Kovach and Barbara McGivney said: “GTS’ 25-year partnership in providing CERDEC with comprehensive and reliable scientific, engineering and technical support highlights our client’s continued confidence in our solutions and services.

In August this year, the company received a $9.97m one-year single award task order to provide scientific, engineering and analysis support (SEAS) for research to the Army Research Laboratory (ARL).
