The US Army plans to arm infantry brigade combat teams (IBCT) in Iraq and Afghanistan with laser-guided Precision Guided Mortar Munition (PGMM) by the end of next year.

The PGMM can be fired from existing army technology that handles 120mm mortar rounds and can be steered to within two metres of a target from over 7km away.
