The GSE connects a dismounted soldier to the battlefield network via networked tactical situational awareness and digital communications to improve real-time tactical situational awareness.

In June, Raytheon’s GSE team delivered the first open frame hardware to the US Army after the preliminary design review.

The contracting agency, the US Army’s Tank-Automotive and Armaments Command Contracting Centre awarded Raytheon a $11.8m contract to provide the GSE technology demonstration.

The contract schedules prototype testing in 2009 and refined systems delivery and testing in 2010.
