Raytheon will upgrade South Korea’s Patriot air and missile defence system under a foreign military sales contract awarded by the US Army.
Under the $17.2m contract, the company will deliver capability upgrades to the missile defence system and prime-power equipment as an alternative power source for Patriot system operations.
In addition, Raytheon will deliver communications equipment to enhance Patriot interoperability with air defence command centres.
The Raytheon-developed Patriot is a long-range, all-altitude, all-weather air defence system used to intercept and destroy tactical ballistic missiles, cruise missiles and advanced aircraft.
Work will be carried out at the company’s Integrated Air Defense Center in Andover, Massachusetts and at Raytheon subcontractor facilities in South Korea.
