During the tests, the aircraft hovered 2ft off the ground and showed the control system’s ability to stabilise the vehicle in all three axes using inertial measurements augmented by GPS and two laser altimeters.
The testing demonstrated that the unmanned system used for roll and yaw control would allow the production vehicle to hover with high precision in winds of up to 50kt with planned enhancements.
The Israeli Defence Force has shown interest in the AirMule as an unmanned medevac vehicle to operate in urban environments.
The second phase of flight tests will include horizontal and vertical position stabilisation.
