Sagem’s new Matis MP3 optronic aiming sight has been selected to modernise the French Army Mistral surface-to-air missile firing posts.
Under the contract, the company will develop and produce the sight and new thermal imager for 186 launching stations, as well as provide infrared seeker for the missile.

The Matis MP3 is a day / night sight that enhances the missile’s capabilities in areas such as extended detection and identification ranges, greater operability under different weather conditions.
The unit is also fitted with a magnetic compass and a GPS receiver, to provide geographic coordinate readings of the target and enhanced coordination of firing posts within a defence area.
The French defence procurement agency DGA had awarded the modernisation contract of the Mistral missile to MBDA.
