The Kingdom of Jordan has awarded a contract to Harris for the supply of Falcon tactical vehicular and handheld communication systems to the Jordanian Armed Forces.

Under the $26.4m order, the company will deliver both Falcon III and Falcon II radios to serve as Jordan’s military communications core of a modernised command, control, communication, computers, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (C4ISR) system.

The tactical radio systems are expected to deliver communications capabilities in support of a range of security missions performed by the Jordanian Armed Forces personnel.

Harris RF communications international business president, Brendan O’Connell, said: "Harris is providing state-of-the-art tactical communications solutions that enable Jordan military personnel to maintain secure communications in the most demanding of environments on the battlefield."

The Falcon III multiband, multi-mission handheld radios are designed to provide soldiers with real-time information and communication at all points of need during coordination, combat, and crisis.

The Joint Tactical Radio System (JTRS) software communications architecture-certified radio operates in 30-512MHz frequency range and features robust satellite tactical communications capability with advanced SATCOMS waveforms.

The Falcon II radios provide superior linking and error-free data performance and also ensure consistent, reliable, high-frequency voice and data communication to the soldiers at the tactical edge of the battlefield even during jamming.

The next generation Falcon III and II radios provide reliable and highly secure tactical communications in demanding conditions for more than 100 nations worldwide.

The radios have already been adopted in all branches of the US Department of Defense (DoD), US allies including the UK, Canada, Germany, Australia and other Nato countries.
