Rheinmetall has received a €134m contract to supply HX81 tractor-trailers to an undisclosed international customer.

The contract requires the company to supply 110 tractor-trailers from the Rheinmetall MAN military vehicles (RMMV) family, as well as services and logistical support over a five-year period.

Deliveries under the contract will begin in January 2018 and continue until February 2019.

The RMMV’s HX family consists of military-off-the-shelf (MOTS) products for a range of military requirements, Rheinmetall said in a statement.

"Deliveries under the contract will begin in January 2018 and continue until February 2019."

Nearly 12,000 HX vehicles are currently in service across the UK, Denmark and New Zealand, while large orders for the trucks have been placed by Sweden, Norway and Australia.

With a service life of at least 20 years, the vehicles are said to offer high robustness, load capacity and mobility.

Compliant with standardisation agreement (STANAG) norms, the trucks can be adapted to operate in a range of climate conditions and temperatures ranging from -46°C to +49°C.

The HX family includes 4 x 4 and 10 x 10 cargo trucks, tankers, heavy-duty recovery vehicles, and folding road-laying and bridge-laying systems.
