The AVX-06 aviation tracking and messaging transceiver have been designed for mobile tracking and messaging applications on fixed and rotary wing aircraft.

"This award demonstrates the critical role that our Mobile Datacom organisation continues to play in providing the US military with trusted BFT-1 satellite tracking communication capability."

The transceiver, when integrated with BFT-1, enables the display of positions for US and coalition air and ground forces and C2 communication.

Comtech Telecommunications president and chief executive officer Fred Kornberg said: "We are extremely pleased with the confidence that the Defense Logistics Agency has placed in Comtech’s BFT-1 technology.

“This award demonstrates the critical role that our Mobile Datacom organisation continues to play in providing the US military with trusted BFT-1 satellite tracking communication capability.”

The previous contract, which was awarded last month, covers engineering services, satellite network operations and programme management in support of the US Army's Project Manager Mission Command (PM MC) – BFT-1 programme.

The BFT-1 is a battle command real-time situational awareness and control system.

In April 2016, Comtech Telecommunications was granted $20m in funding to support the BFT-1 programme.

Nearly 50% of the funding was allocated to licence parts of the company's BFT-1 intellectual property, while the remainder was intended for engineering services and satellite network operations.
