MDH Defence - Vehicle NBC Filtration Systems

MDH Defence are NBC filtration system specialists, with over 35 years' experience in the design, development and manufacture of armoured fighting vehicle NBC filtration systems.

VEHICLE NBC SYSTEMS

The Vickers Challenger 2 used by the British Army, undoubtedly the finest main battle tank in the world, is fitted with a sophisticated and robust 340m³/h vehicle NBC filtration system. The time proven NBC filtration unit fitted to the Challenger Armoured Repair and Recovery Vehicle (CrARRV) has been repackaged for the Challenger 2.

The Alvis Vehicles Ltd CVR(T), Sabre, Scorpion, Spartan and more recently the Stormer and Shielder vehicles are also fitted with MDH Defence vehicle NBC filtration systems.

COMPOSITE NBC FILTERS

In addition to NBC filtration systems MDH Defence designs and manufactures a range of composite filters (combined Chemical, Nuclear and Biological filtration – NBC) within its own environmentally controlled facility. These are manufactured for the UK MoD and many other armed forces world-wide.

The range of NBC filters include:

• 85m³/h No. 5 Mk4 Anti-Vapour Filter
• 170m³/h No.1 Mk4 Composite Filter
• 375m³/h UCPS Composite Filter

TRANSPORTABLE UNHARDENED COLLECTIVE PROTECTION SYSTEM (UCPS)

Imcorporating lessons learnt during operation "Desert Storm" MDH Defence designed and manufactured, in conjunction with the UK MoD, the Transportable Unhardened Collection Protective System (UCPS). It is designed to offer NBC protection for assets such as headquarters, aircraft shelters, mobile hospitals, as well as rest and relief facilities for military and non-military personnel. The Air Filter Unit (AFU) provides air at the rate of 375 m³/hr to a flexible shelter which provides a Toxic Free Area (TFA) for rest and relief from an NBC environment.

CREW COOLING UNITS

Military vehicles and their crews must be able to operate in extremes of climate. To ensure that the physiological requirements of the crew are met it is essential to provide an efficient system for crew cooling.

The MDH Defence range of crew cooling units provides cooled recirculated air and is controlled by a separate contorl panel mounted elsewhere within the vehicles.
