October 2022 has seen a decrease of 5.15% in the overall hiring activity when compared with September 2022.

IT jobs accounted for an 18.76% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in October 2022, registering a decrease of 0.34% over the last three-month average share.

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in October 2022

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in North America with a share of 41.65% in October 2022, a 22.68% drop over the previous month. Computer and Information Research Scientists came in next, claiming a share of 26.94% in October 2022, marking a 20.12% month-on-month decline. In the third place was Database and Network Administrators and Architects with a share of 17.78% in October 2022, a 23.39% drop from September 2022.

Computer and Information Analysts registered a share of 5.6% in October 2022, a 17.84% decline over the previous month.

Top five aerospace, defence & security companies in North America’s IT recruitment activity in October 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average decline of 18.89% in the overall IT recruitment activity of North America’s aerospace, defence & security industry during October 2022 over previous month.

Northrop Grumman posted 611 IT jobs in October 2022 and registered a decline of 3.17% over the previous month, followed by Raytheon Technologies with 494 jobs and a 24% drop. Boeing with 371 IT jobs and General Dynamics with 334 jobs, recorded a 15.68% drop and a 41.91% drop, respectively, while Huntington Ingalls Industries recorded a 3.28% decline with 324 job postings during October 2022.

Country-wise composition of IT hiring in North America’s aerospace, defence & security industry

The US commanded a leading presence in the region’s aerospace, defence & security industry IT hiring activity with a 98.36% share in October 2022, a 20.46% decrease over September 2022. Canada featured next with a 1.5% share, down 35.37% over the previous month. Mexico recorded a 0.14% share, a growth of 150% compared with September 2022.

Mid Level job postings dominate in October 2022

Mid Level jobs held a share of 45.91%, down by 15.28% from September 2022. Junior Level positions with a 37.6% share, registered a decline of 18.6% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 15.97% share, down 36.52% over September 2022, while Senior postings accounted for 0.51%, recording a month-on-month growth of 125%.
