North America witnessed a 2.8% drop in IT hiring activity in the aerospace, defence & security industry in November 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics dashboard.

November 2022 has seen a decrease of 5.43% in the overall hiring activity when compared with October 2022.

IT jobs accounted for a 19.37% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in November 2022, registering an increase of 0.33% over the last three-month average share.

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in November 2022

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in North America with a share of 44.47% in November 2022, a 3.44% drop over the previous month. Computer and Information Research Scientists came in next, claiming a share of 24.49% in November 2022, marking a 16.4% month-on-month decline. In the third place was Database and Network Administrators and Architects with a share of 17.92% in November 2022, an 8.37% drop from October 2022.

Computer and Information Analysts registered a share of 5.52% in November 2022, a 4.57% decline over the previous month.

Top five aerospace, defence & security companies in North America’s IT recruitment activity in November 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 10.18% in the overall IT recruitment activity of North America’s aerospace, defence & security industry during November 2022 over previous month.

Northrop Grumman posted 519 IT jobs in November 2022 and registered a decline of 17.09% over the previous month, followed by Lockheed Martin with 504 jobs and a 2.65% growth. General Dynamics with 463 IT jobs and Leidos Holdings with 450 jobs, recorded a 31.91% rise and a 169.46% rise, respectively, while Raytheon Technologies recorded a 16.9% decline with 413 job postings during November 2022.

Country-wise composition of IT hiring in North America’s aerospace, defence & security industry

The US commanded a leading presence in the region’s aerospace, defence & security industry IT hiring activity with a 98.34% share in November 2022, a 7.86% decrease over October 2022. Canada featured next with a 1.48% share, down 5.08% over the previous month. Mexico recorded a 0.18% share, a flat growth compared with October 2022.

Mid Level job postings dominate in November 2022

Mid Level jobs held a share of 45.82%, down by 4.09% from October 2022. Junior Level positions with a 38.66% share, registered a decline of 12.28% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 14.81% share, down 4.59% over October 2022, while Senior postings accounted for 0.71%, recording a month-on-month decline of 35.71%.
