Australia’s aerospace, defence & security industry IT recruitment activity drops 28.3% in May 2022

Australia’s aerospace, defence & security industry registered a 28.3% drop in IT hiring activity in May 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The industry’s overall hiring is decreased by 12.12% in May 2022 when compared with April 2022.

Out of the aerospace, defence & security industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 10.78% share in May 2022, recording a decrease of 2.36% over the last three-month average share.

Top five job classifications in Australia’s aerospace, defence & security industry’s IT recruitment activity in May 2022

Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 100% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Australia’s aerospace, defence & security industry in May 2022.

1) Computer and Information Research Scientists recorded a share of 51.06% in May 2022, registering a 45.45% decline over the previous month.

2) Database and Network Administrators and Architects claimed a 31.91% share, an increase of 25% over the previous month.

3) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers held a share of 12.77%, registering a 14.29% decline from April 2022.

4) Computer and Information Analysts captured a share of 2.13%, flat growth over the previous month.

Top five aerospace, defence & security companies in Australia’s IT recruitment activity in May 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average decline of 27.42% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Australia’s aerospace, defence & security industry during May 2022 over April 2022.

The Boeing posted 26 IT jobs in May 2022 and registered a drop of 48% over the previous month, followed by Thales with 11 jobs and a 57.14% growth. Saab with 4 IT jobs and Cubic with 2 jobs, recorded a 300% growth and a 33.33% decrease, respectively, while Raytheon Technologies recorded an increase of 100% with 2 job postings during May 2022.

Junior Level job postings dominate in May 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 55.32%, down by 44.68% from April 2022. Mid Level positions with a 29.79% share, registered a decline of 26.32% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with a 14.89% share, up 250% over April 2022.
