Notably, Computer and Mathematical Occupations jobs accounted for a 44% share of the global aerospace, defence and security industry’s cloud-related total new job postings in Q2 2024, up 15% over the prior quarter.

Computer and Mathematical Occupations drive cloud-related hiring activity

Computer and Mathematical Occupations, with a share of 44%, emerged as the top cloud-related job roles within the aerospace, defence and security industry in Q2 2024, with new job postings rising by 15% quarter-on-quarter. Management Occupations came in second with a share of 8% in Q2 2024, with new job postings rising by 34% over the previous quarter.

The other prominent cloud roles include Architecture and Engineering Occupations with a 5% share in Q2 2024, Business and Financial Operations Occupations with a 4% share of new job postings.

Top five companies in aerospace, defence and security industry accounted for 66% of hiring activity

The top companies, in terms of number of new job postings tracked by GlobalData, as of Q2 2024 were General Dynamics, Boeing, RTX, Leidos, and Lockheed Martin. Together they accounted for a combined share of 66% of all cloud-related new jobs in the aerospace, defence and security industry.

General Dynamics posted 3,466 cloud-related new jobs in Q2 2024, Boeing 394 jobs, RTX 362 jobs, Leidos 361 jobs, and Lockheed Martin 336 jobs, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics.

Hiring activity was driven by the US with an 81.04% share of total new job postings, Q2 2024

The largest share of cloud-related new job postings in the aerospace, defence and security industry in Q2 2024 was in the US with 81.04% followed by India (5.47%) and France (3.26%). The share represented by the US was eight percentage points higher than the 73.16% share it accounted for in Q1 2024.
