Infrared camera systems for surveillance applications

Experts in thermal imaging technology, Sierra-Olympic Technologies (SOTI) designs, manufactures, and distributes leading-edge infrared camera systems, components, and total imaging solutions for defence contractors, original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), camera integrators, and the security / surveillance industry.

Many of the cameras and systems are regulated under the US EAR regulations, making them non-ITAR controlled.

The company specialises in high-performance, image-optimised, and cost-effective system solutions for shortwave infrared (SWIR), mid-wave infrared (MWIR) and long-wave infrared (LWIR) imaging. Applications include military, security, wide-area surveillance, long-range surveillance, laser detection, maritime, airborne reconnaissance, natural resource imaging, thermography, radiometry, industrial imaging, laboratory research, video production, optical gas imaging (OGI), and more.

Optical gas imaging cameras with no ITAR restrictions

The new optical gas imaging camera core from Sierra-Olympic, the Ventus OGI, is the smallest, lightest weight (only 580g, with lens) and lowest-powered OGI camera core available. The innovative 640 x 512, 15-micron pixel pitch camera features a midwave-infrared detector array designed to detect hydrocarbon gas leaks, such as propane, butane, methane, and many more. It can be readily integrated into fixed-mounted, continuous-monitoring systems, or onto airborne gimbals or other enclosures on unmanned aerial platforms.

New from Sierra-Olympic, the non-ITAR controlled Ventus OGI camera is designed to detect gas leaks emanating from well pads, pump jacks, generators, drilling platforms, storage tanks, valves, pipe racks, compressors, towers, flare stacks, as well as below and above-ground gas pipelines (see Fig. 1).

Full high-definition (HD) uncooled thermal cameras

Sierra-Olympic recently introduced the Vayu HD, a full HD, uncooled thermal imager featuring 1,920px x 1,200px resolution and capable of 1,080px output.

With longwave infrared spectral response from 8µm to 14µm, the rugged camera utilises a vanadium oxide (VOx) sensor to provide an unprecedented image resolution of more than 2.3 million pixels on a 12-micron pixel pitch (see Figs. 2, 3 & 4).

Thermal cameras with parfocal continuous-zoom optics – non-ITAR controlled

The recently introduced Vinden 75LR series of thermal cameras offers several options in long-range, parfocal continuous-zoom optics, from 17.5° to 1.5° horizontal field of view (HFOV). The OEM camera modules feature highly tuned, one-touch autofocus that make them easy to use with reliable operation throughout the zoom range (see Fig. 5).

Sierra’s OEM Vinden 75LR is a superior LWIR / thermal camera with a 5x continuous-zoom lens with EFL from 15mm – 75mm. The new OEM camera includes a LWIR vanadium oxide (VOx) microbolometer sensor and features 640px x 480px resolution with a 12-micron pixel pitch and a 60Hz frame rate (see Fig. 6).

Master distributor of Leonardo DRS infrared products in the US

Sierra-Olympic was recently selected by Leonardo DRS as its Master Distributor of uncooled thermal camera cores in the US. The company provides domestic commercial sales and service of DRS’ newly-released, non-ITAR controlled TenumTM 640, an ultra-sensitive new thermal imager with a 10-micron pixel pitch, and the popular DRS Tamarisk® family of uncooled infrared cameras.

New from Leonardo DRS and commercially available in the US from Sierra-Olympic, the Tenum 640 features a 640 x 512 array with a 10-micron pixel pitch vanadium oxide (VOx) microbolometer sensor (see Fig. 7).

DRS’ Tamarisk longwave infrared camera cores are also exclusively available from Sierra-Olympic for commercial use in the US. They are non-ITAR controlled and specially designed for OEMs to integrate and incorporate into their own LWIR imaging products (see Fig. 8).

Sierra-Olympic also provides thermal cores and various products and accessories from an array of manufacturers, including Jenoptik, New Imaging Technologies (NIT), Quantum Imaging, IR Cameras, Silent Sentinel, Tamron, Ophir and G5 Infrared.

Temperature-measurement thermal cameras, non-ITAR controlled

SOTI also supplies a line of non-ITAR controlled, fixed thermal cameras for temperature-measurement tasks that include a Gig-E interface that allows customers to access real-time 16-bit thermography data over gigabit Ethernet infrastructure.

Thermographically calibrated, Gig-E Vision® and power over ethernet OEM thermal cameras

The Viento family of cameras is easy-to-control through a single ethernet cable using Gig-E Vision and power over Ethernet (PoE) standards (see Figs. 9 and 10).

The new camera series is ideal for temperature measurement, real-time process monitoring, and non-destructive testing applications.

Thermal PTZ imaging cameras and technologies for military applications

SOTI designs customised cooled and uncooled thermal imaging products and solutions, ranging from simple thermal camera core and lens combinations to complex multi-spectrum thermal pan-tilt-zoom (PTZ) surveillance systems with continuous-zoom (CZ) lenses.

Sierra-Olympic Technologies incorporates its design expertise to provide high-quality, cost-effective solutions with optimised optics and superior image resolution and detection quality. Ask us about our non-ITAR controlled cameras and accessories.

Infrared (IR) sensors and visible (EO) cameras – IR, SWIR, MWIR, LWIR

Sierra-Olympic Technologies incorporates its design expertise to provide high-quality, cost-effective solutions with optimised optics and superior image resolution and detection quality. Ask us about our IR and EO sensors, SWIR, MWIR, and LWIR thermal detectors available as non-ITAR controlled cameras and accessories.
