Elbit Systems Deutschland has won a follow-on contract from the Swedish Defence Material Administration (FMV) for more software-defined radios (SDRs).

Under the approximately $23m contract, the company will supply an undisclosed number of SDRs for the Swedish Armed Forces.

It will include E-LynX SDR vehicular dual-channel configurations and vehicular configurations in full duplex multi-channel technology.

Elbit’s German subsidiary will execute the contract for a period of 30 months.

The company has been receiving orders from FMV since 2016 as part of Sweden’s tactical radio upgrade programme.

Serial deliveries of the SDRs to the Swedish Army started in 2018.

The E-LynX family of SDRs features open architecture that allows for easy addition of updates in the future.

The device features unique waveforms and allows the adoption of European and Nato waveforms.

These SDRs offer improved capabilities that enable ‘simultaneous data and multiple voice sessions’ in both wideband and narrowband waveforms on a single radio frequency (RF) infrastructure.

Several armed forces of Switzerland, Spain and other Nato countries have selected the E-LynX SDR solution.

Elbit Systems C4I and Cyber general manager Haim Delmar said: “We appreciate the trust placed in our digital communication capabilities by the Swedish Armed Forces, attesting to the technological quality and credibility of our solution.

“Sweden is an important market for Elbit Systems, and we hope to continue in growing our activities in Sweden.”

In October last year, Elbit Systems rebranded its wholly owned German subsidiary TELEFUNKEN RACOMS as ‘Elbit Systems Deutschland’, strengthening its business operations in the country.

Last November, Elbit Systems received a contract for the delivery of E-LynX SDR solution to the Spanish Army’s combat battalion level.
