The US Army Communications-Electronics Command (CECOM) has awarded a $1.7bn follow-on contract to Harris to continue providing tactical communication solutions.
The contract has been awarded under the foreign military sales (FMS) programme during the fourth quarter of Harris’ 2016 fiscal year.

Under the five-year contract, the company will provide secure radio communications, tactical networks and embedded high-grade encryption solutions to CECOM.
The contract covers a wide range of radios and associated equipment.
Harris Communication Systems president Chris Young said: "The contract highlights that Harris tactical communication solutions continue to meet the varied needs of our international customers.
"The agreement will add to an already broad range of Harris communications products and services for international customers under the FMS programme."

CECOM recently conducted an annual Joint User Interoperability Communications Exercise (JUICE).
Personnel from the joint services, coalition partners, Department of Defense (DoD) groups, and key US government and federal agencies participated in JUICE to test and train tactics, techniques and procedures that will lead to improved interoperability and synchronisation during real-world scenarios.
The event included network planning, systems integration, network operations and cyber defence operations to identify lessons learned for improvements to existing operational capabilities.
